Our Story
Joy as Resistance was founded to serve Denver’s vibrant queer community. Bre Dovez, the founder and Executive Director, recognized a critical gap in mental health services and inclusive practices for LGBTQIA2+ youth while working as a middle school social worker. This realization sparked the creation of Joy as Resistance, dedicated to providing affordable, accessible, and affirming resources for queer young people. Through individualized counseling, mentorship programs like Big Queer, Little Queer, and professional development for educators, Joy as Resistance fosters resilience, joy, and connection among LGBTQIA2+ youth in Colorado.
