Our Story

In 2019, Vanessa Davis, the CEO and Founder of Josie's Closet, felt a spiritual calling to connect with a local school and inquire about students facing unmet basic needs. This inquiry led to the identification of clothing insecurity among students, prompting Vanessa to mobilize her friends and family. This marked the inception of a philanthropic journey dedicated to addressing these critical needs.

In February 2023, Josie's Closet officially became a 501(c)(3) charity. The Board comprises passionate women deeply invested in the well-being of the community and the future of its children. Despite their own children having moved beyond the public school system, their commitment to ensuring every student's opportunity to succeed remains unwavering.

Our Impact

Josie's Closet is focused on addressing clothing insecurity in Title 1 schools, aiming to fulfill a crucial need and positively impact the lives of students who might otherwise be overlooked. By providing new essential clothing items, the organization empowers families and promotes school readiness, academic achievement, and wellness.
