Our Story
Founded in 1998, The Joshua Group began as a mentoring organization focused on at-risk youth, primarily middle and high school males. Recognizing the urgent need for support, a girls program was introduced in 2009. To ensure accessibility, a blighted building on Market Street in Allison Hill was transformed into the Joshua House Resource Center, providing essential drop-in services. As the demand for our programs grew, we became a Program Partner of the United Way in 2007, receiving vital operational support. In 2014, the Joshua Learning Center was established, offering a range of educational programs for low-income children and families. Each week, over 250 youth engage in our academically focused J Crew After-School Program, free Preschool Program, full-day Kindergarten Program, and an enriching 8-week Summer Learning Program.
