The Johnson City Public Library was founded in 1895 by visionary women from the Monday Club, inspired by their visit to the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Initially a subscription-based service, the library transitioned to public funding in 1912, evolving into a cornerstone of the community. The current facility, opened in 1999, houses over 136,000 items and welcomes thousands of visitors each month.
