Our Story
In 1964, John Wayne triumphed over lung cancer, but his battle continued until his passing in 1979 due to stomach cancer. Inspired by his struggle, the John Wayne Cancer Foundation was established in 1985 to honor his legacy and support others in their fight against cancer.
Impact
Since its inception, the foundation has educated over half a million youth on skin cancer prevention through the Block the Blaze Program and has trained more than 160 doctors in the JWCI Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program, enhancing cancer treatment globally.
