About John Muir Land Trust
The John Muir Land Trust (JMLT) began in 1989 when a group of passionate residents gathered around a kitchen table in Martinez to protect 150 acres of Alhambra Valley open space, now known as Stonehurst. Over the years, JMLT has grown into a leading conservation organization in Northern California, acquiring and protecting over 4,000 acres of land, including critical habitats and recreational spaces.
Impact of JMLT
JMLT has protected over 4,000 acres of land in the East Bay, ensuring the preservation of vital habitats for wildlife and providing recreational opportunities for the community. The organization has successfully acquired and restored numerous properties, including the 702-acre Fernandez Ranch and the 604-acre Carr Ranch.
