About Jim Riley Outreach

Founded in 1986, Jim Riley Outreach (JRO) began with a mission to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and alcohol in schools. Jim Riley, a former football star at the University of Oklahoma and a member of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins, turned his personal battle with alcoholism into a powerful message of hope. By sharing his story in classrooms, churches, and community events, Jim inspired countless individuals to seek help and change their lives.

Our Journey

As the outreach expanded, JRO recognized the need for more comprehensive support services. This led to the establishment of one-on-one mentoring and support groups for both men and women. In 2003, the organization took a significant step by opening its first sober living home, providing a safe space for individuals to rebuild their lives. The motto, "One life at a time!" reflects the personalized approach that has become the cornerstone of JRO's mission.

In 2014, JRO expanded its reach into Texas with the launch of Blake’s House, a mentoring home for homeless young women, initiated by Jim's daughter, Marcie Bazor. This initiative was inspired by her experiences as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and her commitment to helping those affected by addiction.
