About JazzArts Charlotte
Founded in October 2009 by Lonnie and Ocie Davis, JazzArts Charlotte is dedicated to supporting jazz, often referred to as 'America’s classical music', in the vibrant city of Charlotte. Achieving 501(c)(3) status in 2010, the organization quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the local arts community. The inaugural JazzArts Music Stage at Festival In the Park in Fall 2010 marked the beginning of a journey that would unite local and regional musicians, fostering a rich cultural tapestry.
In just six months, the organization launched the All-Star Jazz Youth Ensemble, now known as the Jazz Youth Ensembles + Workshops, which has grown from five students to over 40, providing invaluable educational opportunities. The JAZZ ROOM monthly concert series, initiated in April 2011, continues to thrive, attracting over 800 patrons each month.
