Our Story

The dream of Jamaica Relief Ministries began in 1988 after Hurricane Gilbert devastated Jamaica. In response to the extensive damage, short-term ministry teams were organized to repair homes, schools, and churches. Over the next decade, the need for ongoing support became clear, leading to the establishment of a full-time staff presence in 2001. Floyd and Ellen Yoder pioneered the work of Jamaica Relief Ministries, a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on child and family-related ministries in Jamaica.
