Our Story
Founded in 1986 by passionate artists and community members, KidsArts began as a grassroots initiative aimed at providing children from diverse backgrounds with essential exposure to visual and performing arts. Initially housed in the Jamaica Plain Firehouse Arts Center, the program faced challenges in 1994 when the center closed. However, a dedicated group of 30 parents rallied together to keep the program alive, transitioning it to the First Church JP, where it continues to thrive today. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1995, KidsArts remains committed to fostering creativity and self-expression among children.
