Our Story

The Jamaica Plain Arts Council was established in 1984 to foster a vibrant multicultural arts community in Jamaica Plain. The Jamaica Plain Multicultural Arts Center opened its doors in 1987, serving as a hub for creativity until its closure in the mid-1990s due to funding challenges. In 1993, the Jamaica Plain Open Studios emerged as a community-wide event, allowing local artists to showcase their talents and connect with the public.

Our Impact

Jamaica Plain Open Studios has become a cherished annual event, providing local artists with a platform to display and sell their work, while reaching new audiences each year.
