Our Story

The Jakara Movement was founded in 1999 during the Sikh Renaissance Conference by a group of passionate friends from Fresno. Recognizing the need for a genuine youth voice in the Sikh community, they launched their first event in 2000. This initiative has since evolved into a vibrant movement focused on education, health, gender equality, and social justice, engaging Sikh youth in various projects that strengthen their identity and inspire activism.
