Our Story
The Jacksonville Senior Center began as the Golden Age Leisure Activities Club (GALA) in 1973, starting with just 29 individuals and five ministers at St. John’s Lutheran of Sweet Air. Over the years, it has evolved, moving to Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church in 1974 and officially becoming the Jacksonville Senior Center in 1979 at the former U.S. Army Nike Missile Base. In 2010, the center relocated to a new facility at Sweet Air Park, now proudly serving over 1,900 members.
