Our Story
In the mid-1930s, a dedicated group of northeast Georgia leaders came together to form an electric cooperative, inspired by Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Rural Electrification Administration. This initiative aimed to bring electricity to rural homes, significantly improving the quality of life for families in Jackson County. With a vision for a brighter future, community members invested their savings to create a service that would transform their lives. In 1938, the Jackson Electric Membership Corporation was chartered, committed to providing affordable electric energy to its members.
