Our Story
J Bar J Youth Services began with a simple phone call in the late 1960s. Lyle Jarvis, then a vice principal, received a call from Judge Penhollow, who faced a dilemma with a troubled youth. Instead of sending him to a correctional facility, the Jarvis family opened their home to provide a stable environment. This act of compassion led to the establishment of J Bar J Boys Ranch on a 40-acre ranch in Deschutes County, dedicated to offering an alternative to incarceration for at-risk youth.
