Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa

Our Story

Founded in 1963 by visionaries including Bernie Baker, Jr. and A.H. Blank, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa has evolved to meet the diverse needs of the Des Moines Metro community. With a commitment to ensuring every child has access to high-quality after-school and summer programming, BGCCI has grown into one of the largest youth development organizations in the area. The opening of the eighth Club site in 2021 marks a significant milestone in providing safe and supportive environments for youth.

Impact

BGCCI is dedicated to helping youth succeed. With 95% of Club members on track to graduate and 79% planning to attend college, the organization fosters an environment where children thrive. Additionally, 92% of members engage in regular physical activity, promoting healthy lifestyles.
