Our Story

The Iris Fund was established in loving memory of Iris Crystal Aleman, who was born and passed away due to prematurity on July 15, 2017. In the wake of this tragedy, the founders sought to understand the causes of preterm birth and ways to prevent it. They discovered that the mechanisms behind normal labor onset remain largely unknown to obstetricians. The Iris Fund is dedicated to empowering families with knowledge about pregnancy and labor while supporting innovative research aimed at defining labor and developing therapies to prevent preterm birth.

Our Impact

Since its inception, The Iris Fund has raised over $1,000,000 and engaged more than 3,000 supporters across 35 states and 8 countries. The organization has advanced critical research, leading to key findings that have been published, and advocates for families experiencing loss while working to reduce infant mortality due to prematurity.
