Our Story

Founded in 1972 by the late Mr. James Walker, the Iredell Arts Council is a dedicated non-profit arts organization serving the vibrant community of Iredell County, North Carolina. As the Designated County Partner for Iredell County under the NC Arts Council, this organization plays a pivotal role in promoting the arts through individual and corporate donations, grants, and the NC Arts Council's Grassroots Arts program. Housed in the historic Old Jail building in Downtown Statesville, the Council is at the heart of a region rich in cultural diversity, surrounded by the scenic Brushy Mountains and the expansive Lake Norman.
