Our Story

Founded in 1976, the Ion Center for Violence Prevention has been a beacon of hope for survivors of power-based personal violence in Northern Kentucky, Buffalo Trace, and Greater Cincinnati. Originally known as the Rape Crisis Center of Northern Kentucky and later the Women’s Crisis Center, the organization has evolved to meet the growing needs of the community. In 2021, a new chapter began with a name that reflects the core philosophies of the center: preventION, interventION, compassION, collaboratION, inclusION, protectION, and transformatION. This transformation highlights the commitment to addressing the pervasive issue of violence and supporting survivors of all identities.

Impact

The Ion Center offers free, confidential support and services to victim-survivors of all identities who have experienced power-based personal violence, including sexual violence, intimate partner violence, child abuse, and stalking.
