Education On Islamic History
Promoting Coexistence

Our Story

In December 2000, a dedicated group of Muslims in Jackson, Mississippi recognized the urgent need for a museum that would educate the public about Islamic history and culture. Co-founders Mrs. Okolo Rashid and Mr. Emad Al-Turk, along with a team of scholars and community members, successfully opened the International Museum of Muslim Culture in April 2001. The inaugural exhibition, "Moorish Spain: Its Legacy to Europe and the West," set the stage for a pioneering institution that continues to celebrate the beauty and majesty of Muslim cultures worldwide.

Impact

Since its inception, IMMC has welcomed over 2,000 visitors in its first month alone, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Islamic history, art, and culture among the American public.
