About the International Choral Festival

Founded in 1987, the International Choral Festival in Missoula, Montana, was born from a vision of cultural exchange through music. Professor Donald Carey, inspired by his experiences in Europe, sought to create a non-competitive platform where choirs from around the world could come together to share their artistry. The inaugural festival exceeded all expectations, welcoming choirs from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, and Poland, alongside local groups from Minnesota, Montana, and South Dakota. The overwhelming support from the community and the success of the first festival solidified its place as a cherished tradition in Missoula.

Impact of the Festival

Since its inception, the International Choral Festival has enriched the cultural landscape of Missoula, bringing together diverse voices and fostering a sense of community through music.
