Our Story

Established in 1975 by mental health professionals and community advocates, Interim, Inc. addresses the urgent need for community-based alternatives to institutional care for individuals with psychiatric disabilities. The organization began with a 12-bed halfway house in Monterey and has since expanded to include multiple housing projects and support services across Monterey County.

Impact

Interim has developed 19 projects, providing 277 transitional and permanent housing units, significantly reducing homelessness and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with mental illness. Clients pay an average of 30% of their SSI income for rent, ensuring affordability and stability.
