Our Story

For over 50 years, InterHab has been dedicated to improving the lives of Kansans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1969, the organization emerged from a collaboration between community service professionals and family advocates, initially known as the Kansas Association of Rehabilitation Facilities. This alliance has been pivotal in raising public awareness and advocating for the civil rights of individuals with IDD, leading Kansas in a national movement towards de-institutionalization.

Our Impact

InterHab has played a crucial role in securing essential funding for IDD services in Kansas, ensuring that individuals with IDD have access to quality life experiences and community supports.
