Founded in 1955, the Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center has been a pioneer in integrating spirituality into healthcare. Originally known as The Institute of Religion, it has evolved to address the vital connection between spiritual well-being and health outcomes. The Institute has established the first nationally-accredited hospital chaplaincy training program and has hosted numerous conferences to promote health and well-being.
