Our Story

Founded by animal rights activist Rebecca Moore in 2008, the Institute for Animal Happiness began as a grassroots initiative dedicated to rescuing and caring for abused non-human animals, particularly farmed birds. After years of tireless effort, IFAH became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019 and established a permanent home in Rhinebeck, NY, in 2022. The organization is committed to creating a compassionate community through rescue, care, education, and advocacy for farmed animals.

Our Impact

The Institute for Animal Happiness has made significant strides in rescuing and providing individualized care for abused non-human animals, especially chickens. Through various initiatives, IFAH has successfully built coops, launched educational campaigns, and served nearly 3000 free vegan meals via the Happy Cart program, raising awareness about animal welfare and veganism in the community.
