About Insight Garden Program

Founded in 2002 in collaboration with the Insight Prison Project at San Quentin State Prison, the Insight Garden Program (IGP) has been dedicated to transforming the lives of incarcerated individuals through connection to nature and vocational gardening training. With a proven, replicable curriculum, IGP has expanded its reach to multiple California prisons, including California State Prison-Solano and California Medical Facility-Solano.

Participants of IGP experience a remarkable reentry success rate, boasting a recidivism rate of less than 10%, significantly lower than the national average of over 55%. This success not only heals lives but also strengthens families and communities, saving California an estimated $40 million.
