Our Story
Founded in 1993 by a dedicated group of Indian Americans in Southern California, the India Friends Association emerged in response to the devastating Latur earthquake. Frustrated by the bureaucratic hurdles and corruption often associated with charitable efforts, this group sought to create a more direct and effective way to provide support. Their initial success inspired a long-term commitment to fostering economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among India’s most marginalized populations. Today, IFA stands as a vital catalyst for change, channeling the energies and resources of the diaspora to uplift underprivileged communities across India.
