Our Story

Founded in 1970 by Peggy Schneider, Independent Living Services was established in response to Title XIX, which affirmed the right of individuals to live in the least restrictive environment. With initial federal funding, ILS purchased a home to support emerging adults with disabilities, helping them develop essential life skills for independence.
