Our Story

Founded by Peggy Schneider in 1970, Independent Living Services emerged after the introduction of Title XIX, which established the right for individuals to live in the least restrictive environment. With the first grant, ILS purchased a home to support emerging adults with disabilities, helping them acquire essential skills for independent living.
