Our Story

Founded in 1985 by the late John P. Welch, the Independent Living Association Inc. (ILA) was established to provide a nurturing residential environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mr. Welch believed that ILA would be a lifelong home for those in need, and this vision continues to guide the organization today. With the support of dedicated staff and the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), ILA helps individuals thrive in their communities.

Our Impact

For over 30 years, ILA has delivered high-quality, person-centered services that promote independence and community integration for individuals with disabilities. Families receive guidance and support throughout their journey.
