Our Story

Founded in 1987, Independence Center was created to meet the mental health needs of the Lake County community. After two years of dedicated fundraising and planning by local residents, the center opened its doors in 1989, providing essential support for individuals facing chronic mental illness. With a mission to help individuals gain and maintain independence, the center has positively impacted over 4,000 lives since its inception.
