Immigrant Social Services (ISS) has dedicated over four decades to improving the lives of immigrants and underprivileged individuals in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Founded 45 years ago, ISS provides essential resources and support to help immigrants navigate the challenges of adapting to a new country. Through English instruction, recreational activities, and vital information on housing, employment, and education, ISS plays a crucial role in fostering a thriving community.

Supporting Children and Families

ISS focuses on the unique needs of children and families in the Lower East Side and Chinatown communities, where many families face language barriers and limited resources. By partnering with local schools, including PS 2, PS 42, PS 126, and PS 130, ISS serves over 600 students daily, offering afterschool and summer programs that enhance academic learning and personal development.

Through programs like NY Flightz Basketball, ISS not only promotes physical fitness but also instills teamwork, leadership, and community engagement in young participants. The organization emphasizes the importance of wise decision-making by providing age-appropriate prevention support services for substance abuse and gambling, ensuring that children grow into resilient and responsible adults.
