Our Story

In 2011, the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in San Jose, California, concluded its 46-year ministry, leading to the donation of unspent funds to the Presbytery of San Jose. This seed money facilitated the purchase of a residence dedicated to transitional housing for individual refugees and families. A successful fundraising campaign allowed for the completion of Immanuel House, a historic guesthouse remodeled to accommodate up to 12 residents. Since welcoming its first refugees in November 2015, Immanuel House has become a sanctuary for those seeking freedom from persecution.

Impact

The Immanuel House Refugee Project empowers newly arrived refugees to thrive and integrate into their communities, providing them with a safe and supportive environment.
