Our Story

Imani House was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Mahmoud and Bisi Ideraabdullah in Liberia during a time of civil unrest. After migrating from the U.S. in 1985, they faced immense challenges, including hunger and safety threats. Their journey began with volunteering at a local hospital and establishing a makeshift orphanage in their home. Over the years, Imani House has grown to provide essential services, including healthcare and education, to thousands of low-income families, youth, and immigrants in both Liberia and Brooklyn, NY.

Impact

Each year, Imani House serves over 1,200 families in Brooklyn and reaches an additional 4,000 through community outreach. In Liberia, the organization impacts over 14,000 individuals annually, providing vital healthcare and educational services.
