Our Story
Imagination Library of Louisville was founded in 2016 through a partnership between the Junior League of Louisville, WAVE 3 News, and the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation. Inspired by the success of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Tennessee, co-founders Bill Shory and Laurel Mallory mobilized volunteers to bring this transformative program to Louisville. The initiative mails a free monthly book to children from birth to age five, igniting a passion for reading in the community.
