Our Story

On a snowy January morning in 2007, Royal Berg, an immigration lawyer, along with Sisters JoAnn Persch and Pat Murphy, witnessed the heartbreaking reality of family separations at the Broadview Immigration Staging Center. This pivotal moment ignited a commitment to support those affected by deportation, leading to the establishment of the Illinois Community for Displaced Immigrants.
