Our Story
Incorporated on January 1, 1967, the Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human Relations (ICDHR) has a rich history of advocating for social justice and equality. Originally known by several names, including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the organization has been dedicated to fostering understanding among diverse communities since its inception in 1972. The ICDHR works tirelessly to create and implement human relations models that transcend gender, racial, and cultural boundaries, believing that true diversity cannot coexist with racism, sexism, and classism.
