Our Story

In 1967, inspired by a visit to an Indiana Children’s Home, Lois Idleman initiated the creation of a children’s home in Central Illinois. This vision led to the establishment of the Illini Children’s Christian Home (ICCH), supported by local communities in Champaign, Vermilion, and Douglas counties. Over the years, ICCH evolved into Illini Christian Ministries, Inc. (ICM), expanding its mission to include adoption, foster care, and counseling services. Today, ICM focuses on empowering families in crisis through innovative programs like Safe Families for Children.

ICM has successfully transitioned from a traditional group home model to a robust network of foster families and Safe Families, providing essential support without relying on state funding.
