Our Story
Idaho Arts Charter School (IACS) was founded in 2003 by a dedicated group of parents who recognized the need for high-quality college preparatory education with a strong emphasis on the arts. In a time when many schools were cutting arts programs, these founders envisioned a school that would place the arts at the forefront of education, creating an engaging environment for students to explore their creativity and personal talents.
Since opening its doors in 2005, IACS has grown from serving 450 students to currently accommodating 1,240 students across grades K-12. The school has expanded multiple times to meet the increasing demand from families in the Nampa community and surrounding areas, maintaining a robust waitlist each year. IACS is committed to providing an alternative to traditional public schooling, and its mission, "Engaged learning through the Arts," continues to guide its growth and development.
Located in the historic Lakeview School building, which dates back to 1890, IACS has undergone significant renovations and expansions to enhance its facilities. The school now operates on two campuses, with plans to grow to a maximum capacity of 1,560 students in the coming years.
