Our Story

ICT Food Rescue was founded by Stephanie Merritt, who, after returning to college at 46, discovered the alarming amount of food surplus being discarded daily. Inspired by her studies at Wichita State University and her job, she began rescuing food to make a difference. In February 2016, ICT Food Rescue was established, transforming the mission of feeding people instead of landfills. With the help of passionate volunteers, the organization has grown significantly, rescuing food surplus and distributing it to those in need.

Our Impact

In 2023, ICT Food Rescue successfully rescued 205,291 pounds of food, equating to 171,076 meals provided to the community. This effort saved our partnered agencies $396,210. With a goal to increase food rescue by 15% and upcycle an additional 50 meals weekly by 2025, the organization continues to strive for a hunger-free community.
