Our Story
Founded in 1948, The IceHouse Players began as a small theater group in Mount Dora, Florida. With overwhelming enthusiasm, a former ice plant was transformed into a vibrant performance space. The IceHouse Theatre opened its doors on February 7, 1949, with the production of "Return Engagement," captivating audiences ever since. In 1958, a new 270-seat facility was constructed on land generously donated by the municipality, further solidifying the theater's commitment to the community. A significant renovation in 2011, made possible by The Sonnentag Foundation and other generous donors, enhanced the venue, ensuring it remains a cultural hub for Central Florida. Today, The IceHouse Theatre continues to provide high-quality theatrical productions, fostering talent and creativity among Florida's theater artists.
