In 1981, businessman Eugene M. Lang made a promise to sixth graders in East Harlem, offering college tuition to those who graduated high school. This commitment led to the establishment of the national 'I Have A Dream' Foundation in 1986, which has since supported over 18,000 Dreamers across the U.S. and New Zealand.
More than 90% of Dreamers complete high school, and they are three times more likely to earn a bachelor’s degree compared to their peers in similar socioeconomic circumstances. College graduates from the program earn, on average, an additional $1 million in lifetime earnings.
