Youth Soccer Development

Our Story

Founded in 1962, Hunter Soccer Club began as a response to President John F. Kennedy's call for physical fitness. Originally known as St. Luke's Soccer Club, it was established by John Hunter, a passionate Scotsman who introduced soccer to local children using a volleyball at Abington High School's fields. With support from Episcopal Academy, Mr. Hunter provided essential equipment to young players. Over the years, he, along with Hans Peters, played a pivotal role in forming the Intercounty Soccer League (ICSL), fostering a love for soccer in the community.

Despite its religious origins, Hunter Soccer Club is a non-denominational organization that welcomes participants of all backgrounds. Today, it thrives as a volunteer-driven nonprofit, dedicated to enriching the lives of youth through soccer. In honor of its founder, the club was renamed Hunter Soccer Club after Mr. Hunter's passing in 1970. For over 60 years, it has remained a vibrant community institution, teaching children the beautiful game of soccer.

Impact

Hunter Soccer Club proudly serves over 1,400 youth participants and supports more than 600 local families, providing both recreational and travel soccer opportunities.
