Our Story

In November 2010, Michael Johnson founded Hunger 2 Help, Inc., known as Burrito Boyz, alongside his son Alec and Alec’s best friend Luke. The initiative began as a response to Alec’s extensive Christmas wish list, prompting Michael to teach the boys the value of gratitude by exposing them to those less fortunate. On that first Sunday, they prepared 54 hot breakfast burritos and ventured downtown to distribute them, along with bottles of water, to the homeless community. This simple act of kindness ignited a passion that has continued for over 13 years.

Making a Difference

Since its inception, Burrito Boyz has served over 280,000 meals, including breakfast burritos, water, fruit, and essential comfort items like toiletries and clothing. The mission is not only to feed the hungry but to do so with dignity and respect. Young volunteers engage with the homeless community, fostering connections that cultivate compassion and empathy. Among the dedicated volunteers are groups like Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA), Female Athlete Volunteers (FAV), and MEDLIFE from SDSU, all contributing to the mission of “Saving The World One Burrito At A Time.”
