Our Story
The Huneebee Project, founded in 2018 by a clinical social worker and beekeeper, is dedicated to empowering local youth through the art of beekeeping and environmental stewardship. Over the years, the project has successfully graduated eight cohorts from its 15-week Beekeepers in Residence therapeutic job skills training program. With a commitment to education, the project has reached over 2,000 children and adults, highlighting the vital role of pollinators in our ecosystem. Currently, Huneebee Project maintains 40 honey bee colonies and over 20 pollinator-friendly garden plots across nine sites in New Haven and Bridgeport, all developed and maintained by local youth employed in various roles.
