Our Story

For too long, high fidelity Montessori programs have been out of reach for many children in Chicago. Over half of the 15,000 children in the Humboldt Park neighborhood live below the poverty line. Humboldt Park Montessori provides a nurturing environment that feels like home to every child and caregiver who walks through our doors. Nearly ten years ago, a group of dedicated parents united to bring Montessori education to this community, believing in an approach that focuses on the whole child, fostering social and emotional skills, and empowering creative thinking.

Impact

Since opening its first classroom in 2015 with just eight children, Humboldt Park Montessori has grown to serve 70 children across four classrooms in the 2023-2024 school year. This growth reflects a commitment to equitable, accessible, and sustainable Montessori programs that disrupt racism, poverty, and structural inequality.
