About the Humane Society of Ventura County

Founded in 1932 by passionate animal lovers, the Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC) has been a beacon of hope for countless animals in need. After years of struggling with overcrowded conditions, the organization found a permanent home on a beautiful 4.4-acre property, thanks to the generosity of benefactor Sara Bayless. Since 1982, HSVC has expanded its facilities, including the opening of the Harry Valentine Visitors Center in 2011, which marked the beginning of a significant remodeling project for the Spay and Neuter Clinic.

Our Impact

HSVC has altered over 1,500 animals annually, totaling approximately 70,000 since the clinic's inception. The organization thrives on the dedication of volunteers who provide essential care, socialization, and love to shelter animals. With programs like pet-assisted therapy and humane education, HSVC continues to promote compassionate care for all living beings.
