Our Story

The Humane Society of Stanislaus County (HSSC) was founded in 2007 by passionate citizens committed to animal welfare. Initially focused on high intake rescue, HSSC has evolved into a vital community outreach organization. It emphasizes low-cost spay/neuter programs and operates a pet food pantry to assist low-income residents, significantly enhancing the lives of animals and their owners.

Our Impact

HSSC has transformed the landscape of animal adoption, increasing rates from 20 to over 750 animals per year. The organization also provides essential low-cost spay/neuter vouchers and operates a pet food pantry, supporting the community's most vulnerable pet owners.
