Our Story

Since 1912, the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City has been committed to saving and improving the lives of dogs and cats in the Greater Kansas City community. As the first and longest-standing NO-KILL shelter in Kansas City, it provides essential services such as preventative medical care, spay/neuter services, education, and adoptions.

In 2023, groundbreaking programs were launched to reduce barriers and increase the save rate, paving the way for a new era of animal welfare in Kansas City. The focus is on becoming more community-centered, ensuring that every animal receives the care they deserve.
