Our Story
The Humane Society of Erie County has a rich history dating back to 1866, when the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was formed. By 1900, the Erie County Humane Society was officially established, dedicated to ensuring kindness and justice for all living creatures. In 1985, it became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, relying solely on donations to operate. In 2019, the shelter expanded to better serve the community and its animals.
Our Impact
HSEC provides a safe haven for dogs and cats, ensuring they receive essential medical care and are matched with loving families. The organization has successfully placed countless animals into forever homes while educating the public on compassion and proper animal care.
Why Donate?
